Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam on Thursday urged Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure the ‘Notun Kuri’ competition is conducted impartially and inclusively, with a focus on cultural awakening for the new generation.

Addressing divisional commissioners and DCs in an online meeting from the Ministry’s meeting room today, Mahfuj emphasized the competition’s role in identifying and nurturing talent from local communities to reach the final stage in Dhaka.

“If the most talented children and adolescents are not selected at the grassroots level, it will negatively impact the Dhaka phase,” he said. He further stressed that the selection process must be transparent, impartial, and inclusive to foster positive cultural growth.

Highlighting the district and divisional administrations’ key roles in the regional and divisional selection processes, the adviser insisted on ensuring impartial judgment throughout the competition. He also called for equal opportunities for children and adolescents from all religious and ethnic backgrounds.

To make the competition more festive, Mahfuj urged DCs to increase participation by raising awareness through social media and other channels.

Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana suggested that organizing meetings with local stakeholders and involving local journalists would significantly enhance the competition’s outreach.

DCs from Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Joypurhat, Meherpur, and Chattogram spoke about the preparations in their respective districts, outlining their strategies to ensure the competition’s success.

The meeting was also attended by BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam, senior officials from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and BTV.
