Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has stated that free, fair, and neutral elections are not possible under the current government. He claimed that the country’s administration, judiciary, and police are demoralised and have lost the courage to work impartially.
He made these remarks while delivering the presidential speech at an emergency presidium meeting held at the party’s central office in Kakrail on Wednesday afternoon.
GM Quader said, “The administration is always terrified by the fear of cases. The judiciary, administration, and police are frustrated. They lack the morale necessary to conduct a fair election.” He further alleged that appointments to various positions are being made based on nepotism, which has compromised the government’s neutrality.
Expressing concern over the current situation in the country, Quader stated, “The country is heading toward uncertainty. There were expectations that this government would ensure a good election. However, we see that there is another government within this government. An invisible shadow is preventing advisors from working properly.”
He added that the government has completely failed to create a suitable environment for elections in the country.
Regarding law and order and the economic situation, Quader said ordinary people lack security for their lives and property, and the income of hardworking people is decreasing. He noted that there is no investment in the country, economic growth is at its lowest, and unemployment is continuously rising. “A good election could improve the situation, but the government is not moving in that direction,” he remarked.
The meeting was also attended by Jatiya Party Secretary General Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, Co-Chairman Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Haji Saifuddin Ahmed Milon, Abdur Rashid Sarker, HM Shahriar Asif, Engineer Mainur Rabby Chowdhury Rumann, and other presidium members.
