Another 10-year-old student named Ayman, who sustained burn injuries in the recent tragic aircraft crash at the Milestone School and College, died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Friday morning.
Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the burn institute, confirming the matter said that Ayman died while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute around 9:30am on Friday, bringing the death toll at the institute to 14 .
Ayman had suffered 45 per cent burns, including his trachea.
Earlier, on Thursday two students Mahtab Rahman Bhuiyan, 13, a seventh-grade student of the school’s English version, and Mahiya Tasnim, 15, an eighth-grade student, lost their battle for lives.
Mahtab had suffered 85 percent burns, including critical damage to his trachea. Despite intensive treatment, he died in the ICU at around 1:50 PM on Thursday while Mahiya, who had sustained 50 percent burns, passed away around 4:30 PM, the surgeon added.
On July 21, a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara. So far, 31 people died and several others injured in the incident.
According to Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) Prof Dr Nasir Uddin on Thursday night, the health condition of six out of the 42 injured in the Milestone jet crash is critical.
Forty-two injured were now undergoing treatment at the institute. Six of them are in critical condition, he added.
