Netflix’s ‘The Royals’ season 2 has appointed filmmaker Tanuj Chopra as its new director after two previous directors reportedly exited the project within weeks of filming.
According to Hindustan Times, Chopra, known for directing the second and third seasons of ‘Delhi Crime’, has taken over from Mitakshara Kumar, who replaced Jasmeet K Reen after she left the production earlier.
According to reports, Reen was removed after three days of filming in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
Kumar’s departure was described by a source close to the production as amicable, with differences over creative vision cited as the reason. Netflix reportedly suggested Chopra for the role.
Filming has now resumed in Mumbai after the production shifted from Rajasthan.
Starring Ishaan Khatter, the first season of ‘The Royals’ followed a young prince and an entrepreneur who joined forces to turn a struggling palace into a luxury homestay. The series also featured Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea and Milind Soman.
For season two, Gurfateh Pirzada and Sini Shetty have joined the cast, while Bhumi Pednekar is not expected to return.
