Actress Pori Moni has expressed anger at Maasranga Television, saying the channel’s apology over an AI-generated obscene video featuring her likeness has failed to address the damage to her personal life, peace of mind and career.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, 17 October, the actress held the television channel responsible for the distress she says followed the circulation of the fabricated video. She argued that a brief apology card could not resolve the consequences of the incident.

“Your apology through just a photo card is doing nothing at all. You have made my normal life miserable again, and you are entirely responsible for it,” she wrote.

Pori Moni said the controversy had affected her ability to use social media normally. She explained that she could no longer comfortably share updates about her work or personal life because of the negative reactions she continued to receive.

She was particularly distressed that her children had also become targets of online hostility.

“I cannot post anything on social media, whether about my work or my personal life. Even pictures of my children are receiving thousands of hateful comments,” she said.

The actress added that the incident had damaged her peace of mind and affected her professional life. She questioned what more she could be expected to endure after the circulation of the fabricated material.

Pori Moni also challenged Maasranga Television over its promise to bring those responsible to justice. She asked when the channel intended to fulfil that commitment and accused the organisation of bearing responsibility for the consequences she was facing.

“You said you would bring the criminals under the law. When will you do that? To me, you are now the criminals,” she wrote.

The controversy began after objectionable videos featuring the likenesses of Pori Moni and actress Mehazabien Chowdhury appeared on Maasranga Television’s official Instagram account on 13 October.

The channel said its account had been hacked and that fabricated content created through the misuse of artificial intelligence had been posted. It later apologised and said it would pursue legal action.

During a Facebook Live session late on Friday night, Pori Moni had already questioned whether an apology alone could absolve the channel of responsibility. She also criticised social media users who circulated the material or sought links to it in unrelated discussions.

The actress said the video had circulated privately before but gained renewed attention after appearing on a verified media account. She argued that the involvement of an established media organisation had significantly widened its reach.

The incident has intensified concerns about AI-generated sexual content, online harassment and the responsibility of media organisations and social media users when fabricated material targets public figures.
