Indian superstar Rajinikanth has revealed that he remains more connected to his former job as a bus conductor than to the fame he has achieved through cinema, states Hindustan Times.

Speaking during a promotional programme for his upcoming film Jailer 2, the 75-year-old actor reflected on the five years he spent working as a conductor in Bengaluru before entering the film industry.

Rajinikanth told director Nelson Dilipkumar that he enjoyed his former profession even more than acting and continues to miss those days.

Despite his decades-long career and immense popularity, he said he has never fully identified with the image of a superstar.

The actor also explained that he frequently visits Bengaluru because the city reminds him of his past. Seeing buses and the khaki uniforms worn by conductors brings back emotional memories of that period.

During the conversation, Nelson asked whether Rajinikanth’s humility came naturally or was something he consciously maintained.

The actor’s response highlighted how strongly he continues to identify with his working-class roots.

Born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, Rajinikanth held several jobs before pursuing acting. His journey into cinema took a significant turn when filmmaker K Balachander recognised his potential and helped establish his career in Tamil films.

Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 hit Jailer. The film is scheduled for release on 15 October, with fans eagerly anticipating the reunion of the actor and director.
