The Chittagong University (CU) unit of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti has placed four demands before the university administration, accusing it of biased behaviour and failing to ensure students’ safety.

The demands were raised during a bilateral meeting with the administration on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Chhatra Shakti leaders and activists criticised the administration for administering the oath to Cucsu executive member Akash Das. They alleged that the administration acted in a biased manner by ignoring objections from general students and administering the oath to Akash Das.

They called for reconsideration of the decision and cancellation of his oath.

Md Ismail, general secretary of the Jatiya Chhatra Shakti’s CU unit, placed the four demands before the administration.

The demands include immediately setting up a police outpost near the railway crossing to ensure students’ safety, introducing on-campus part-time employment opportunities, implementing a transparent policy for allocating residential hall seats, and cancelling Akash Das’s oath.

Chhatra Shakti leaders said the decision to set up a police outpost near the railway crossing has remained pending for a long time. They called for its prompt implementation in the interest of students’ safety.

They also called for on-campus part-time employment opportunities to help students facing financial difficulties and demanded transparency in the recruitment process.

“The administration must take effective steps to ensure students’ safety and rights,” the Chhatra Shakti leaders said.

They warned that they would organise a movement with students if the administration delayed implementing their demands.
