A construction worker died on Monday evening after being crushed by a collapsing wall during the demolition of an old shop in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur.
The deceased was identified as Shahin, 17, son of Kamal Hossain of Shosha village under Laskardia union.
According to locals, workers were demolishing a long-standing semi-pucca shop on Monday to build a new structure.
The shop was located east of the District Council Auditorium at Sadar Bazar in Nagarkanda Municipality and owned by Jafar Member of Ishwardi village under Shahidnagar union.
During the demolition, part of the front wall collapsed on Shahin, critically injuring him. Locals rescued him and took him to Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex.
He was later referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and then transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
Shahin died around 7pm Monday while undergoing treatment at DMCH.
