Police in Cumilla detained 624 people during a special operation against juvenile gangs.
The raids were carried out from Wednesday night to Thursday morning in the areas under 18 police stations of the district.
Police said the drive targeted hangouts of unruly youths, crime‑prone zones and suspicious locations to prevent teenagers and young men from engaging in criminal activities.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Lutfor Rahman said the detainees’ past criminal records will be reviewed and legal action taken as required.
He added that such operations will continue on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, following arrests in Daudkandi Police Station, allegations surfaced of attacks and vandalism at the station by gang members, though police have not issued any statement on the matter.
