A sub-assistant engineer of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) was killed and his seven-year-old daughter was critically injured in a road crash in Naogaon on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Rasheduzzaman. He worked at the Mahadebpur-Patnitala sub-division office of the RHD
Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident.
The incident took place around 8:30pm in the Hapania area on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway in Sadar upazila.
According to police and locals, Rasheduzzaman was travelling from Naogaon town to Mahadebpur with his wife and daughter.
A truck coming from the opposite direction hit their CNG-run autorickshaw.
Rasheduzzaman died at the scene. His daughter, Rumaisa Zaman, was critically injured. His wife was unharmed.
Police recovered Rasheduzzaman’s body and took it to the police station.
Legal procedures are underway. Police are also trying to identify the truck involved in the crash.
