Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 547 people during routine anti-crime drives across the capital over the past 24-hours.

A total of 48 cases were filed against the arrestees for various offences during the operations, according to a press release issued by the DMP on Monday.

According to the DMP, the arrests comprised 37 in Ramna Division, 32 in Lalbagh, 77 in Wari, 58 in Motijheel, 92 in Tejgaon, 138 in Mirpur, 53 in Gulshan, and 56 in Uttara Division.

In addition, two suspects were arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) and two by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) division.

During the drives conducted across various police station areas in the capital, law enforcers seized 2,321 Yaba tablets, 2 kg 380 grammes of hemp, eight bottles of Phensedyl, and five bottles of foreign liquor.

Police also recovered eight mobile phones, 200 yards of internet cable, one bus, Tk12,750 in cash, one locally-made one-shooter gun, one samurai sword, and 27 rounds of ammunition.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
