A five-member parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speaker of National Parliament Barrister Kaiser Kamal is leaving Dhaka tonight for Cape Town, South Africa, to participate in 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC).
The delegation includes BNP lawmakers Humam Quader Chowdhury and Shakila Farzana, alongside Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md Mahbubul Alam.
Secretary of National Parliament Secretariat Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan is serving as secretary to the delegation.
Members of parliament and delegates from Commonwealth member nations will participate in the conference from 13 to 19 September.
The event will feature discussions, exchanges of views, and decision-making on the theme, “Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership”.
On the sidelines of the conference, Kaiser Kamal is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal will also meet Alan Winde, premier of the Western Cape, South Africa, for a bilateral meeting.
In addition, the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation led by the deputy speaker may hold meetings with delegates from various participating countries during the conference.
The delegation will also join workshops alongside CPC leaders to work towards the common objective of consolidating the practice of parliamentary democracy.
Following the conclusion of the conference, the delegation is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 20 September.
