A total of 1,314 more patients have been hospitalised across Bangladesh with dengue, and four new deaths were recorded during the last 24 hours.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information in a press release issued on Monday.
According to the DGHS, of the newly hospitalised patients, the highest number of 235 received treatment in Khulna division (outside the city corporation area).
Additionally, 225 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 198 in Chittagong division, 153 in Barisal division, 143 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 139 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 99 in Rajshahi division, 81 in Mymensingh division, 36 in Rangpur division, and five in Sylhet division.
Of the four fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, two deaths were recorded in Khulna division (outside the city corporation), one in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), and one under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Among those hospitalised during the last 24-hour period, 64.8 per cent of the patients were male and 35.2 per cent were female.
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue cases recorded in the country from 1 January to 7 September this year stands at 43,904. Meanwhile, a total of 40,709 patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
The total death toll from the disease has reached 121 during this period. An analysis of the overall mortality data reveals that 56.2 per cent of the patients who lost their lives to dengue this year were female, while 43.8 per cent were male.
