Director Chayanika Chowdhury is set to mark 25 years in the industry with a special telefilm titled Shomoy Ektu Thamo. The project stars acclaimed actor Afzal Hossain and Zakia Bari Mamo.

Based on a story by Iffat Arefin Mahmud, the telefilm is being produced by Gangchil Drama and Cinema. Its central plot revolves around two familiar people unexpectedly meeting one night after 15 years.

The story follows a renowned architect who encounters Ayaz, a university engineering teacher, while returning home after appearing on a talk show.

Their sudden reunion after a decade and a half leads to a series of amusing incidents.

Farzana Chhobi, Riya and Mosharraf Karim also feature in the telefilm, while Rosie Siddiqui will appear as a guest artiste.

Recently, Chayanika shared an emotional message on social media about her experience working on the project.

Thanking Afzal Hossain, she said she had learned from him how to respect people and remain honest and passionate about one’s work.

She also expressed gratitude to Zakia Bari Mamo for making time for the project despite her busy schedule, as well as producer Asif Iqbal and Gangchil Drama and Cinema for their support.

To celebrate her 25th anniversary as a director, Chayanika previously made three special dramas—Jochhnay Fera, Bishonno Megh and Prothom Dekhar Por. Shomoy Ektu Thamo continues that series of special productions.

The telefilm will air on Channel i on 18 September.
