Prime Bank PLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on 31 August at its head office in Dhaka to fund an agricultural research initiative under the bank’s Special Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund. The agreement covers a project titled “Climate Resilient Sustainable Crop, Fisheries and Livestock Development in Haor Agro-Ecosystem of Bangladesh (CRCFLDHAB).”

Faisal Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank PLC, and Prof Dr M Hammadur Rahman, Director of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES), signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. The project aims to enhance food security and strengthen the rural economy by developing and promoting climate-resilient technologies for crop production, fisheries and livestock management in Bangladesh’s Haor region, while building farmers’ capacity through training and knowledge transfer to help them adopt sustainable, climate-smart practices.

Prime Bank said in a press release that, through the initiative, its CSR funding would support research into locally adapted, climate-resilient farming technologies, integrated scientific studies across key agricultural sectors, and practical training and extension services for farming communities.

Prime Bank PLC was represented at the signing by M Nazeem A Choudhury, Additional Managing Director; Md Ziaur Rahman, Additional Managing Director; and Shahana Pervin, Head of Agro Business, along with other senior officials from the bank. Bangladesh Agricultural University was represented by Prof Dr Md Mojammel Haque, Lead Researcher and Project Director; Dr Mohammad Matiur Rahman, Associate Director of BAURES; and Dr Paresh Kumar Sarma, Senior Scientific Officer.
