Alia Bhatt will reportedly have a much smaller role in Brahmastra 2 as the sequel shifts its focus to the backstory of Dev and Amrita.
The long-awaited sequel is finally moving ahead, with Ranbir Kapoor expected to return after completing the second instalment of Ramayana. According to reports, he will begin shooting for Brahmastra 2 in April 2027.
Ranbir is expected to play both Dev and Shiva, while Deepika Padukone will reportedly portray Amrita. Alia, who played an important role in the first film, will have considerably less screen time in the sequel.
According to a report by NDTV, citing Bollywood Hungama, Alia is expected to shoot for only 25 days. The sequel will have an overall shooting schedule of around 125 days.
The story will reportedly centre largely on Dev and Amrita, whose connection and past were hinted at towards the end of the first film. Ranbir and Deepika are expected to lead that part of the narrative.
With the makers placing Dev and Amrita at the heart of the sequel, Alia’s character will reportedly take a more limited role this time.
