Actor Ranbir Kapoor has put an end to years of speculation surrounding his reported involvement in Dhoom 4, confirming that he is not part of the next instalment of the blockbuster action franchise, reports Filmfare.

Speaking while promoting Ramayana at San Diego Comic-Con, Ranbir was asked whether he would headline the highly anticipated sequel. The actor firmly denied the reports.

“No, right now I am working on Ramayana and another film called Love & War, which is directed by Mr Sanjay Bhansali,” he said.

His statement effectively dismisses longstanding rumours that linked him to the fourth film in Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom franchise.

Reports suggesting Ranbir would lead Dhoom 4 have surfaced repeatedly over the past several years.

The speculation intensified after entertainment portals claimed Yash Raj Films was considering him for the lead role, while fan-made posters and edited images circulated widely on social media.

There were also unconfirmed reports that a leading South Indian actor was being considered as the film’s antagonist.

However, neither Yash Raj Films nor the actors involved ever officially confirmed those claims.

Ranbir’s latest remarks make it clear that Dhoom 4 is not among his current projects.

The actor is currently focused on two of the biggest productions of his career.

He will next appear as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic Ramayana, the first part of which is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release.

The second instalment is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.

Speaking about portraying the revered character, Ranbir recently admitted that he initially felt intimidated by the responsibility before embracing the role with gratitude as filming progressed.

He is also reuniting with acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love & War, a period drama that ranks among Bollywood’s most anticipated upcoming releases.

With Ranbir now ruling himself out of Dhoom 4, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Yash Raj Films regarding the future of the action franchise and its next leading star.
