Premier Bank reported a sharply wider consolidated loss for the first half of 2026 as lower interest income weighed on earnings, although operating cash flow recovered strongly.
According to the bank’s unaudited financial statements disclosed on Thursday, consolidated loss per share widened to Tk3.15 for the January-June period from Tk1.11 a year earlier.
For the April-June quarter, consolidated loss per share increased to Tk2.28 from Tk1.33 in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
The bank attributed the weaker earnings to lower interest income compared with the same period last year.
Despite the earnings decline, consolidated net operating cash flow per share improved to Tk9.75 during the first six months of 2026 from negative Tk7.64 a year earlier, driven by higher borrowings from other banks and agents.
Consolidated net asset value per share fell to Tk10.44 as of June 30, 2026, from Tk20.53 a year earlier. The bank said the decline reflected higher operating losses.
Premier Bank shares rose 1.92 per cent to close at Tk5.30 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.
