Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that Miles Morales will eventually join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in live action, but only after Sony’s acclaimed animated Spider-Verse trilogy concludes, says Deadline.
Speaking to China’s Watching Hollywood, Feige said Marvel is waiting for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to complete Miles’ animated story before introducing the fan-favourite character into the MCU.
“The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out next year.
But yes, we definitely have plans, and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.”
The animated trilogy concludes with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, scheduled for release on 18 June 2027.
Shameik Moore will reprise his voice role as Miles Morales in what is expected to be the final chapter of the Oscar-winning franchise.
Feige also revealed that Marvel Studios and longtime Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal are already planning the web-slinger’s future on the big screen.
“We’ve been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts. My production partner, Amy Pascal, is already working on it, and we’ve had in-depth discussions about what the next two, three, four and five Spider-Man movies might be about.”
The possibility of Miles Morales joining the MCU has been teased before.
In 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jamie Foxx’s Electro remarked, “Somewhere there’s bound to be a Black Spider-Man,” a line many fans interpreted as a nod to Miles.
Addressing that moment, Feige said audiences immediately recognised it as a possible hint.
“Audiences around the world were thrilled because they knew it might be a hint at Spider-Man Miles.”
Tom Holland currently plays Peter Parker in the MCU, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to be his next outing.
While Feige did not reveal when or in which film Miles Morales will make his live-action debut, his comments offer the clearest confirmation yet that Marvel intends to bring the beloved character into the MCU once the animated Spider-Verse saga reaches its conclusion.
Producer Amy Pascal had previously confirmed in 2023 that a live-action Miles Morales film was in development, saying, “You’ll see all of it. It’s all happening.”
