The government has announced the Hajj packages for 2027, with the airfare reduced by nearly Tk25,000. Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) announced the packages at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Two packages — Hajj Package-1 and Hajj Package-2 (budget-friendly) — have been announced. The cost of the first package has been set at Tk 615,263, while the second will cost Tk 505,648.
“Under the initiative of the prime minister, airfare has been reduced by Tk 24,830 compared with 2026,” the religious affairs minister said.
For Hajj 2027, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that pilgrims’ accommodation, transport, catering, tents and service packages in Makkah and Madinah will be brought under a single integrated package.
In 2026, there were four service packages — A, B, C and D — for Mina and Arafat. However, there will be three service packages for Hajj 2027. Half-board catering has also been made mandatory for pilgrims in 2027.
The minister expressed hope that these measures would improve the quality of services for pilgrims.
Highlighting the prime minister’s personal initiative to reduce airfare, the minister said airfare was around Tk 200,000 in 2023 during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure. In 2025, during the interim government’s tenure, the airfare was reduced to Tk 167,820.
“In Hajj 2027, airfare has been fixed at Tk 130,000 through the prime minister’s personal initiative, which is a milestone in setting Hajj airfares,” he said.
Asked whether the cost of Hajj had increased or decreased compared with the previous year, the minister said, “The minimum package in the previous Hajj did not include food expenses. However, due to making catering mandatory for Hajj 2027, cancelling service package D and the increase in the exchange rate of the Saudi riyal, an additional cost of Tk 66,574 has been added to the Hajj package.”
He also claimed that Hajj Package-2 for 2027 would cost Tk 28,063 less compared with the minimum package in 2026.
At the press conference, officials said pilgrims under Hajj Package-1 would be provided accommodation within 1,000 to 1,400 metres of the outer courtyard of the Holy Haram in Makkah and in the Markazia area of Madinah.
Their tents in Mina would be located in Zone-2, while food would be provided by the Muallim at Mina and Arafat along with services under Service Package-3.
Pilgrims will generally stay in Saudi Arabia for 35 to 40 days.
Room upgrades and short-package facilities will be available upon payment of additional charges.
Under Hajj Package-2, pilgrims will be accommodated in hotels located within two to three kilometres of the outer courtyard of the Holy Haram in Makkah. In Madinah, accommodation will be arranged outside the Markazia area but within 800 metres of the Prophet’s Mosque.
Their tents in Mina will be located in Zone-5, and food will be provided by the Muallim at Mina and Arafat along with services under Service Package-3. If hotels are located more than two kilometres away, Salawat buses will be arranged in line with Saudi government regulations.
For pilgrims travelling through private Hajj agencies, a package titled “General Hajj Package through Private Management” has been set. The cost of this package has been fixed at Tk 513,648.
Subject to the sighting of the moon, Hajj is expected to take place on 15 May 2027. The ministry confirmed that the registration process will conclude on 4 September, with the first Hajj flight scheduled to depart on 8 April.
