Police recovered the body of a businessman from a jute field in Faridpur on Saturday, two days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Yusuf Fakir, son of Sahir Uddin Fakir of Momin Khar Haat area under Char Madhabdia union in Faridpur Sadar upazila.
His body, with his hands and feet tied, was found at around 10am near Momin Khar Haat, police and local residents said.
According to the family, Yusuf boarded an autorickshaw from the market on Thursday evening to return home but went missing on the way. His relatives searched several places but failed to trace him.
Local residents spotted the body beside a jute field on Saturday morning and informed the police and his family.
Police later recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for examination.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Hasan confirmed the recovery, saying police had been sent to the scene after receiving the information.
Legal proceedings were under way, he added.
