Two journalists were killed when a bus ran them over in Uttara, Dhaka, early Thursday as they were returning home after watching the World Cup football match on a big screen.
The accident occurred at the Jasimuddin bus stand area in Uttara Sector‑3, Uttara West Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Mohammad Khalid Monsur said.
Deceased Robiul Alam Raju was a journalist of Praner Bangladesh while Sakibul Hasan was a journalist of Sangbad Diganta. Sakibul was also treasurer of Uttara Press Club, while Raju served as hospitality secretary.
They were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared both dead, OC Monsur added.
