The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised the country’s maritime ports to hoist local cautionary signal 3 due to the possibility of squally weather affecting the North Bay and adjacent coastal areas.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued by the organisation on Friday, the well-marked low-pressure area previously over North-West Madhya Pradesh and its surroundings has weakened.
It currently persists as a low-pressure area over Central Uttar Pradesh and its vicinity and is expected to weaken further.
However, a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjacent areas. Under its influence, squally weather may sweep over the maritime ports, the North Bay, and the coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to keep local cautionary signal 3 hoisted.
Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers stationed in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
