The makers of Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story have revealed the first look of the much-awaited biographical drama on former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly’s birthday.

The team also announced that the film will release worldwide on May 14, 2027, during an extended holiday weekend, reported by BOLLYWOOD hungama.

The first-look poster features actor Rajkummar Rao recreating one of the most iconic moments of Indian cricket. The poster shows Rao as Ganguly celebrating India’s memorable NatWest Trophy victory over England in 2002 by waving his jersey from the Lord’s balcony.

The moment remains one of the most recognised images from Ganguly’s captaincy and holds a special place among cricket fans.

The film will follow Ganguly’s journey from a young cricketer with promise to one of India’s most influential captains. It will explore important moments from his personal and professional life while highlighting the leadership, determination and resilience that shaped his career.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story is produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under the banner of Luv Films. Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, T-Series and DBL present the film.

Rao, who has portrayed several real-life personalities on screen, will play Ganguly in what is expected to be one of his biggest projects. The first poster indicates that the film will revisit several major moments from the former captain’s career.
