The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 2,314 individuals for various criminal offences during a series of special operations conducted across different areas of the capital throughout June.
According to DMP, the month-long drive, which spanned from 1 to 30 June, led to the apprehension of 797 suspects involved in terrorism, robbery, mugging, and dacoity.
Additionally, 1,446 individuals were arrested in connection with the drug trade.
The figures released by the various units of DMP also include 71 individuals who were previously off the police’s primary suspect lists.
The DMP stated that these operations were carried out to ensure public safety and to maintain a stable law and order situation.
Officials further noted that such drives will continue in the future to uphold security in the metropolitan area.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is currently being processed.
