A bomb‑like object and a handwritten death threat were recovered Wednesday morning from a teacher’s home in Kosba village, Gangni upazila of Meherpur.
Akkas Ali, 45, of Mollapara, suspected the items were left due to previous enmity.
Police were alerted after Akkas noticed the object and note. Locals said the device, wrapped in red sketch tape, was found under the staircase with a handwritten note nearby.
Family members alleged Akkas has been in a land dispute with neighbours for six months. Land officials recently measured the disputed plot, and Akkas was expected at the upazila land office with documents on Wednesday. Before that, miscreants allegedly left the object and threat note at his house.
Gangni Police Station investigation officer Al Mamun said police recovered the items after receiving the report. He added that an investigation is underway to bring those involved under the law.
