Police have arrested two young men with a locally made shotgun and five rounds of live ammunition during a checkpoint operation in Chattogram’s Bayezid Bostami area on Friday night.
The arrested men were identified as Md Tauhidul Islam Samir, 22, and Md Alamgir Hossain Sajib.
According to Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), the raid was carried out at around 8:30pm at a checkpoint in front of Raisa Store under the Syed Company building in the Aturar Depot area of Kamrabad.
Deputy Commissioner (North) of CMP Md Hasan Mostafa Swapan said the two suspects attempted to flee after noticing the police checkpoint, prompting officers to stop and search them.
Police recovered an iron-made locally manufactured shotgun and five rounds of live cartridges during the search, he said.
A case has been filed against the two men with Bayezid Bostami Police Station.
Police said the suspects were being questioned to determine the source of the weapon and gather further information about the case.
