Veteran singer Syed Abdul Hadi, whose voice has enriched Bangla music for more than six decades, is set to be honoured by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with a special recognition.
The tribute ceremony, titled “Timeless Voice: Respect and Love for Syed Abdul Hadi”, will be held at the National Theatre Hall auditorium on Friday at 6:30pm.
Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the event will celebrate the lifelong contribution of the iconic singer to the country’s music landscape.
Syed Abdul Hadi is the voice behind some of the most enduring Bangla songs, including “Emon-o To Prem Hoy,” “Chokh Bujhile Duniya Andhar,” “Jeyo Na Sathi,” “Chokher Nojor Emoni Koira,” “Ekbar Jodi Keu Bhalobashto,” and “Achen Amar Mukhtar, Achen Amar Barrister,” among many others.
Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer five times.
He was also awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2000, the country’s second-highest civilian honour.
