Police have filed a case against 242 people, including 150 to 200 unidentified individuals, over an attack on law enforcers and vandalism at a joint forces camp in Jungle Salimpur of Chattogram.
Inspector Sohel Rana of the Faujdarhat police outpost under Sitakunda Police Station filed the case on Monday night, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohinul Islam confirmed.
The OC said 42 people were named in the case, including five individuals arrested from the scene and local criminal leader Mohammad Yasin. Another 150 to 200 unidentified people were also made accused in the case.
He said the case was filed under various sections of the Explosives Act on charges of carrying out an armed attack on police, obstructing government duties and damaging government property.
Earlier, at around 2:00am on Sunday, armed attackers vandalised a newly established joint forces camp in the Alinagar area of Jungle Salimpur.
Before the attack, roads were dug up at four points to prevent law enforcement personnel from quickly reaching the scene.
