Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the trial of child Ramisa’s rape and murder will be held in a special court within five to seven days.

He added that court proceedings will continue even during the Eid holidays.

The minister was speaking at a Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) dialogue at the Secretariat media centre on Sunday morning.

“The government has taken steps to conclude Ramisa’s murder trial quickly. Today the charge sheet has already been submitted.”

However, he informed reporters about upcoming changes to national currency and passports, saying images of Liberation War heroes will feature on most banknotes, while passports will highlight Bangladesh’s nature, history, and heritage.

The minister further said the government is preparing special legislation to address online gambling and betting, and measures are being taken to expedite the disposal of narcotics cases.
