A mild heat wave is sweeping across 11 districts including Dhaka and may persist, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Thursday.
According to its latest bulletin, the heat wave is affecting Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Dhaka, Tangail, Khulna, Jashore, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Chandpur and Lakshmipur.
The Met office also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning at many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Moderately heavy to heavy falls are likely in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet.
The country’s highest temperature, 37.5°C, was recorded Wednesday in Ramgati, Lakshmipur. Day and night temperatures may fall slightly nationwide.
A trough of low lies over West Bengal to the North Bay across southwestern Bangladesh.
