Litton Das has placed himself above some of Bangladesh cricket’s biggest captaincy names during a new Bangladesh Cricket Board podcast.
The current Bangladesh T20 captain was asked to compare himself with several former and current national captains. Litton repeatedly chose himself based on record.
When asked to pick between himself and Shakib Al Hasan as Bangladesh’s all-time best captain, Litton said, “Tough, but I would choose myself.”
He gave a similar answer when Tamim Iqbal’s name came up.
“In terms of record, me.”
The same confidence appeared when he was asked to choose between himself and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
“Again, in terms of record, me.”
The host reacted to Litton’s bold answers by saying this confidence was exactly what the team needed.
Litton was then compared with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Once again, his answer was simple.
“Me.”
Mashrafe Mortaza remains one of Bangladesh’s most respected captains and many still see him as the country’s greatest leader. But Litton said his own numbers in the formats he has captained put him ahead in record.
“I have played under Mashrafe bhai for a long time. I did not play all formats under him. But in terms of record, in the formats I have led, my record is very good. I understand there will be a lot of debate about this.”
Litton also backed himself over Mushfiqur Rahim and Khaled Mahmud Sujon.
His comments showed a bold view on where he sees himself among Bangladesh cricket’s captaincy greats.
