The measles situation in the country continues to worsen, with six more deaths and 1,459 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the new infections include 1,341 suspected cases and 118 lab-confirmed cases.
In a press release issued on Monday, the DGHS integrated control room reported that since 15 March 2026, the total number of suspected measles patients in the country has reached 50,500, with 6,937 cases confirmed through laboratory testing.
Of the six deaths reported in the last 24 hours, three were residents of Dhaka Division, two from Chattogram, and one from the Mymensingh Division. To date, the total number of suspected deaths from measles stands at 350, while confirmed deaths have reached 65.
Hospital data analysis reveals that 35,980 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since 15 March, of whom 31,992 have been discharged after recovery. In the last 24 hours, 1,071 new patients were hospitalised, while 1,130 were discharged.
Meanwhile, the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 is in full swing.
Since the programme began on 5 April, a total of 17,999,976 children have been vaccinated, achieving 101 per cent of the target.
In the last 24 hours alone, 144,626 children received the vaccine across the country.
Regarding city corporation coverage, Dhaka North City Corporation has completed 103 per cent of its vaccination target, while Dhaka South City Corporation achieved 99 per cent. Gazipur City Corporation notably exceeded its target, reaching a coverage of 126 per cent.
