Unidentified assailants shot dead a member of the UPDF (Democratic) faction in Islampur of Khagrachhari’s Panchhari upazila early Thursday.
The victim was identified as Md Iman Hossain, 25.
Local sources said Iman was walking in front of his house around 6am when gunmen opened fire and fled, killing him on the spot.
Amar Chakma, Khagrachhari unit organiser of the UPDF (Democratic) faction, confirmed Iman was their member and blamed another UPDF faction for the attack.
No comment was immediately available from the rival faction.
Panchhari Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Ferdous Wahid confirmed the incident, saying police were heading to the scene and details would be known after investigation.
