Officials issued the repoll directive based on reports from returning officers and observers of the two constituencies, along with “material circumstances”.
According to reports, the poll panel received 29 repoll complaints from Diamond Harbour and 13 from Magarhat.
Political parties, candidates, polling agents, and observers typically demand repolling over issues such as electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunctions, booth capturing, voter intimidation, or breaches of voting secrecy.
The two-phase West Bengal assembly elections concluded on last Wednesday, recording what the election watchdog described as the state’s highest-ever voter turnout of around 92 percent.
