Bangladesh women’s national kabaddi team reached the semi-finals of the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, after a 59-20 win over Chinese Taipei on Saturday, securing at least a bronze medal through two consecutive group victories.
Bangladesh imposed control through aggressive raiding and organised defence, which disrupted Chinese Taipei’s structure. The team forced errors and converted raids efficiently, which created a consistent scoring gap.
Bangladesh led 25-11 at the break and maintained pressure through sustained attacking phases. The side increased intensity after half-time and broke defensive lines with direct raids, which prevented any recovery.
The team followed a similar pattern to their opening win against Thailand, where they combined quick raids with compact defensive positioning. This approach limited opposition scoring and allowed Bangladesh to dictate tempo throughout both matches.
The competition rules guarantee a bronze medal for teams reaching the semi-finals, which confirms Bangladesh’s place on the podium. The result reflects consistent execution across both matches rather than reliance on individual moments.
Bangladesh will face Nepal women’s kabaddi team next to decide group position, with the fixture rescheduled to April 26 due to rain disruption. The outcome will determine their pathway in the knockout stage.
In contrast, the men’s team lost 47-31 to Iran after an earlier defeat to Pakistan, despite opening the tournament with a win against Syria.
