Law enforcement rescued three rubber workers abducted in Naikhongchhari, Bandarban, on Wednesday.
The workers — Nurul Islam, 20, Enamul Haque, 20, and Hasan, 20 — were freed at night from a remote hill area in Baidyapara, Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Police said their condition is stable. All three are from Shofiullahkata in Palongkhali union of Ukhia upazila.
Armed men abducted them around 1:30am Tuesday from Abir Rubber Garden in Baishari union. Another worker informed the garden owner around 2am.
Garden owner Abdul Karim said, “We immediately informed law enforcers after hearing the news. Quick action made it possible to rescue the workers alive.”
Joint forces launched an operation, intensifying surveillance in the hill areas. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals abandoned the hostages in Ramu and fled.
A team led by the Baishari Police Outpost in‑charge later rescued the workers and brought them safely to the station.
Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Mozammel Haque said, “A joint drive is underway to identify and arrest the kidnappers.”
