Seven more people have died in the last 24 hours (from 8am on 12 April to 8am on 13 April) from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms. Among them, two died from confirmed measles and the remaining five died with measles-like symptoms.
This information was provided in a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday afternoon.
The press release stated that during the same period, 729 people with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country, and measles was confirmed in 82 individuals.
The Directorate General of Health Services said that in the last 24 hours, measles-like symptoms were observed in 1,371 people across the country. Among them, 615 were from Dhaka division. During the same period, 729 people with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals, of which 274 were in Dhaka division. The fewest patients were admitted in Rangpur (11) and Mymensingh (17).
A total of 713 people admitted with measles-like symptoms were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. Among them, Dhaka division saw the highest number of discharges at 305, Rajshahi division at 12, and Chattogram and Khulna divisions each saw 103 patients leave hospitals.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services report, a total of 30 people have died from measles from 15 March to date. However, during this period, 156 people have died with measles-like symptoms.
Additionally, among the 17,024 people who presented with measles-like symptoms, 10,954 were admitted to hospitals. Among them, measles was confirmed in 2,721 individuals. The health directorate also said that 8,369 people have recovered and returned home from hospitals.
