State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque said Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura will be upgraded to international standards, with work starting soon.
He shared the update on Monday afternoon after visiting the stadium.
“Bogura’s Shaheed Chandu Stadium will be upgraded to international standards. Work will begin soon,” he said.
The venue was once used for international cricket. It has remained unused for a long time. The government now plans to bring it back into use.
The State Minister said, “Work is being initiated to restore Shaheed Chandu Stadium to its former status as an international cricket venue. The stadium will be modernised in line with the standards of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).”
He also said, “Although the stadium has long been neglected, all necessary steps will now be taken to develop it to international standards. Discussions have been held with officials from the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Council, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and all have agreed to begin work quickly.”
Aminul Haque added that there is a plan to host the Under 19 BPL at the stadium in July.
Newly elected MP from Bogura 6 Rezaul Karim Badsha was present during the visit. Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman also joined, along with senior officials and local leaders.
