Uttara University hosts financial, career literacy programme with Prime Bank
Uttara University organised ‘Financial & Career Literacy Programme, 2026, Season 1’ at its Multipurpose Hall on Thursday, in collaboration with Prime Bank Academia.
The Office of External Affairs and the Brand Communication Office of the university supported the event.
The programme aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of financial management and career development. It sought to equip them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global job market.
Speakers from Prime Bank PLC included M Nazeem A Choudhury, Additional Managing Director and Head of Consumer and SME Banking; Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liability and Women Banking; and M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking.
Ishrat Hossain, Dean of the School of Business at Uttara University, delivered the welcome address. She introduced the guests and highlighted the importance of financial and career literacy for students.
In his keynote speech, M Nazeem A Choudhury focused on career development strategies. He highlighted the growing importance of data science, AI-based learning, and communication skills for future opportunities. He also stressed the role of youth empowerment in national progress.
Shaila Abedin shared insights from her professional journey. She spoke about career growth, resilience, and maintaining work-life balance, particularly for women in the corporate sector.
MM Mahbub Hasan discussed financial inclusion and highlighted the role of school banking in building a financially aware generation.
The programme also featured a poster presentation session. More than ten student groups presented innovative and research-based ideas.
Kazi Mahiuddin, Registrar of Uttara University, attended the event as special guest. Soeb Md Shoayeb Noman, Associate Professor of the Department of Business Administration, and other senior faculty members were also present.
Ishrat Hossain delivered the vote of thanks at the end of the session. She thanked all guests, participants, and organisers for making the programme a success.
