Bangladesh national cricket team is conducting a skill camp ahead of the upcoming two white-ball series against New Zealand. The camp, which began on 5 April, is focusing on both skills and fitness, and will continue until 13 April. The ODI squad will be announced in the meantime. On 13 April, a practice match will be held featuring the players in camp against those not included in the squad.
The three-match ODI series will begin on 17 April. The Bangladesh camp is quite confident about their preparations. On Monday, Cricket Operations In-charge Shahriar Nafees said, “So far we have had a long period of preparation. The volume of practice and the itinerary are very good. The players are working hard and training well. We hope this continues until the New Zealand series.”
The ODI series will be played on 17, 20, and 23 April. The first two day-night matches will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The third ODI will be held at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.
The first two T20Is will be played on 27 and 29 April at the same venue, while the final match will be held on 2 May in Mirpur.
Bangladesh have had a long preparation period ahead of this extended series. The camp will continue for about another week. Although the heat has been a minor challenge, the players have adapted quickly, according to Nafees.
The country’s first T20I captain added, “So far we have had a long preparation period. The volume of practice and the itinerary are very good. The players are working hard and training well. We hope to continue this until the New Zealand series. It is a bit hot, but the players are adjusting quickly.”
