For the first time, Bangladesh Cricket Board has brought a spin bowling machine for the national team.
The board is using new technology to prepare for the New Zealand series. Cricket operations head Shahriar Nafees said the machine will play a big role in training.
Batters can now face different types of spin in practice. The machine can copy real match situations with good accuracy. This will help players get ready for tough conditions.
“With this, you can practise off-spin, leg-spin, and straight deliveries,” Nafees said. “If you think about off-spin for a right-handed bowler, then for a left-handed bowler it would be a chinaman. If you think about leg-spin, then for a left-handed bowler it would be off-spin.”
He said the machine can cover all kinds of spin. It also includes the arm ball. Coaches can change the speed and length as needed. “Some spinners bowl quicker while others bowl slower, so that variation can be managed as well.”
Nafees also spoke about how the machine works. It can be used by hand or set on auto mode. “It can be set on an automated timer, allowing approximately 25 to 30 balls to be used continuously,” he said.
The board hopes this new system will help Bangladesh batters deal better with spin in international matches.
