Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has greeted the country’s people and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the holy Lailatul Qadr (the Night of Decree).
“On the occasion of the holy Lailatul Qadr, I extend my heartfelt greetings and mubarakbad to all Muslims around the world, including the countrymen,” he said in a message issued today.
He said Lailatul Qadr is a blessed and glorious night on which the Holy Quran was revealed during the holy month of Ramadan.
The prime minister said Almighty Allah has declared the night better than a thousand months and that it carries a message of welfare, forgiveness and mercy for mankind.
He said the night offers a unique opportunity to seek closeness to Almighty Allah through prayers, repentance and supplication.
Tarique Rahman said Ramadan is a month of restraint, self-purification, tolerance and the awakening of human values.
He said the lessons of Lailatul Qadr inspire people to establish peace, justice and welfare in individual, social and national life.
“Let us engage more in prayers to attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah and dedicate ourselves to the welfare of humanity by understanding the significance of the night,” he said.
The prime minister prayed that the infinite mercy and blessings of holy Lailatul Qadr be bestowed on all.
He also prayed that Allah guide the country and its people towards progress, peace, harmony and welfare.
“May the glory of holy Lailatul Qadr bring peace, harmony and welfare to our lives,” he added.
