Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced a “precautionary” reduction in crude oil production and refining operations after repeated Iranian attacks targeting the country.
The corporation said the move was taken in response to “repeated and hostile” Iranian strikes against Kuwait, according to the Kuwait News Agency, reports Anadolu.
Officials emphasised that the reduction is “purely precautionary” and will be reassessed depending on how the situation develops.
The company added that it remains fully prepared to restore normal production levels once conditions permit.
The decision comes amid escalating regional tensions since 28 February, when Iran began launching missiles and drones towards Israel and several Gulf states hosting US military facilities.
Some of the strikes have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including ports and residential buildings.
Tehran has said the attacks were carried out in response to a US–Israeli military campaign against Iran that has killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials.
