A writ petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the legality of the removal of Ahsan H Mansur, former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB).
The petition also challenges the legality of the appointment of the central bank’s new governor. Lawyer Sarwar Hossain filed the petition on behalf of Supreme Court lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun.
The Finance Secretary, Bangladesh Bank, and newly appointed Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman have been made respondents in the case.
Mostaqur was appointed on 25 February.
