United Nations reported that around 1,00,000 people fled Tehran during the first two days of US and Israeli strikes on Iran, carried out on 28 February and 1 March.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
The agency noted, “Latest reports indicate no increase in cross-border movements linked to recent events. The situation at the Islam Qala border crossing border crossing with Afghanistan remains stable with no significant changes observed.”
The conflict erupted after a large-scale joint assault by the United States and Israel, which killed Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, the fighting has intensified, with Iran responding by launching missile and drone attacks targeting Israel from locations across the Gulf.
