Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has announced that agricultural products will be exported on an industrial scale within the next year.
The minister made the remarks while exchanging greetings with senior officials at the Ministry of Agriculture conference room in the capital on Thursday.
Describing agriculture as the “backbone of the country’s economy,” Minister Rashid noted that as the majority of the population is involved in this sector, it will be restructured through proper planning.
He emphasised that agriculture must be given priority to strengthen the national economy.
The minister further outlined government plans to reduce the import of agricultural goods while simultaneously increasing exports over the coming year. He sought the cooperation of all stakeholders to move the country’s agricultural sector forward.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly appointed State Minister for Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries and Livestock, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, highlighted agriculture as one of the most vital sectors.
He urged all officials and staff within the sector to discharge their duties with honesty and sincerity.
The meeting was attended by the Agriculture Secretary Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian along with other senior officials from the ministry. Earlier, the ministry welcomed the newly appointed minister and state minister with floral greetings.
