A 21-day grassroots gymnastics training camp concluded on Monday at the Dinajpur Gymnasium, bringing together 80 young athletes under a structured programme supported by the Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation.

The camp ran from 27 January to 16 February and followed a demanding daily routine. Sessions took place every morning and afternoon, reinforcing discipline as much as physical ability.

Sixty boys and 20 girls took part, with parents attending the closing ceremony. The organisers treated participation as a starting point, not an end product.

Coaches built the programme around fundamentals. Athletes worked daily on warm-ups, flexibility, core strength and balance, the non-negotiables of gymnastics.

On selected days, the focus shifted to applied technique. Floor exercise demonstrations, landing mechanics and extended stretching sessions added a layer of technical understanding.

Dinajpur District Sports Officer Md Asaduzzaman presented certificates at the closing ceremony. The gesture carried meaning because it marked completion of a full programme, not a token appearance.

Head coach Md Abdullah Al Masum made the camp’s philosophy clear. “Our aim is not only to produce athletes,” he said. “We want every student to become physically healthy, mentally strong and confident.”

He stressed that progress depends on structure rather than shortcuts. “With regular training, safe equipment and consistent practice, we can develop gymnasts of international standard in the future,” he added, praising the commitment shown by the participants.

Parents noticed the difference. One said, “Our children have learned more than sport here. Their confidence has grown, and that matters just as much.”

Federation General Secretary Md Habibur Rahman placed the camp within a wider sporting context. “Gymnastics is not just a sport,” he said. “It builds physical ability, mental strength and self-belief.”

He added that grassroots programmes play a decisive role in producing future national and international athletes. The message aligned with what unfolded on the floor in Dinajpur.
