Voter turnout reached 32.88 percent at 32,789 polling centres by 12pm on Thursday in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said.
Briefing reporters at the Election Commission building at 1.15pm, he said voting began simultaneously at 7:30am at 42,651 centres across 299 constituencies.
He added that no major delays or incidents of disorder had been reported so far.
“We have received reports from 32,789 centres out of 42,651. According to the information received, voter turnout is 32.88 percent,” he said.
The EC secretary described voter presence as satisfactory and mentioned that he voted at a Dhanmondi polling centre at 8:20am before heading to the office.
The Election Commission said data collection from the remaining centres is still underway.
