The price of 22-carat gold (11.664 grams) has gone up by Tk6,299 per bhori. Following this latest hike, the price of one bhori of gold has reached a new historic record of Tk2,55,617.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced that the new rates will come into effect from 12:15pm on Friday. A press release issued by the committee, signed by its Chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, confirmed the details of the new pricing.
This sharp increase comes only a few hours after the association had reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk3,149 on Thursday night, which had briefly set the price at Tk2,49,318 per bhori.
According to the association, the price adjustment was necessitated by an increase in the price of pure gold (locally known as tejabi gold) in the domestic market.
The decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
